Our latest Senior Finance Global Trend Report is part of our constant commitment to add value and keep professionals updated. We have compiled this report based on an international survey of our specialist consultants in nine markets, to provide insights to both candidates and employers.

In this report, we have included a more detailed overview of the key trends we have observed in Australia, China Mainland, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Decreased dependency on foreign talent in China

While overseas experience is much appreciated, strong local market experience will still provide candidates with a competitive advantage in China. More and more, organisations are localising their finance teams and have started identifying successors for their current foreign CFOs. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate

a good cultural fit, as well as relevant experience, so this is certainly an area we focus on when speaking to candidates. There is currently a strong drive to regulate the eCommerce sector, so we may see an increased demand for professionals with experience in dealing with regulators. This may take a while as the eCommerce sector is still at an early development stage.

Local market experience provides candidates with a competitive advantage in China.

Most employees are expecting 2014 to be a much better year for their companies and in terms of their own remuneration. This is an important issue to take notice of when conducting assessments or salary reviews.

Salaries & Benefits

We anticipate that salary increases will be between 8-12% in China. We will also see a greater focus on benefits such as pension funds, medical insurances and saving plans as hiring organisations compete to attract and retain top talent.
